A fast, friendly word race you can play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. No download, no account needed.
The game
Word Tracer takes the classic idea of finding words in a grid of letters and turns it into a live race. Everyone in a room gets the same board at the same moment, and you have a few minutes to trace as many words as you can across touching tiles. Every word you find counts, so a busy room is a crowd to race against, not a crowd taking your points.
What makes it different is the boards. Instead of the same square every time, each round brings a new shape: a heart, an arrow, a crown, a window full of holes, two islands joined by a narrow bridge. Bonus tiles reward the routes worth finding, and the shapes get trickier as you climb.
Built to welcome new players
Word games can be rough on beginners when they're dropped in with players who have been at it for years. Word Tracer groups players into tiers, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Champion, so you're racing people near your level. You earn XP every match you play, and when you've earned enough you're promoted to the next tier, with tougher boards and stronger opponents. Bronze rooms use friendly shapes with more vowels, and the first time you play, a short hands-on tutorial walks you through tracing a word and using bonus tiles before your first match.
Prefer to play at your own pace? Solo practice uses the same boards and scoring with nobody watching, and after every round you can see all the words you missed.
Play your way
- Swipe across letters on a phone or tablet.
- Drag with a mouse, or tap letters one at a time.
- Type words on a keyboard, with the path lit up on the board as you go.
- Watch any room, cheer on other players with quick reactions, and chat between rounds.
