Player rules
Word Tracer is a race, and it's meant to be a friendly one. These rules keep the game fair and welcoming for everyone, from first-time players in Bronze to Champions.
By playing Word Tracer, you agree to follow them. The short version: be kind, play fair, and let your own brain find the words.
Respect other players
- Keep chat friendly. Good-natured trash talk is fine; insults, bullying and harassment are not.
- No hate speech or slurs, and no attacks on anyone's race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or nationality.
- No sexual content, threats, or encouraging anyone to harm themselves or others.
- Don't spam: no flooding chat, repeating messages, or advertising.
- Celebrate wins and take losses gracefully. A quick gg goes a long way.
Word Tracer automatically blanks out offensive words in chat. That filter is a safety net, not permission. Getting around it with spelling tricks still breaks these rules.
Player names
- Choose a name that's fine for everyone to see. No offensive, sexual or hateful names.
- Don't pretend to be another player, a Maxzam Games team member, or a well-known person.
- Keep yourself safe: don't use your full real name, email address, phone number or other personal details as your name or in chat.
Fair play
Every player should be racing on their own skill. The following count as cheating:
- Word solvers and helpers. Using anagram finders, word-search solvers, dictionaries, AI assistants or any other tool to find words while you play.
- Bots and automation. Scripts, macros or programs that trace or type words for you.
- Teaming up. Having someone else, including a spectator, feed you words during a round, or sharing words with another player in the same match.
- Farming XP. Joining a room with several tabs, browsers or devices to collect XP or push other players down the standings, or arranging results with other players.
- Exploiting bugs. Using a glitch to gain points, XP or an advantage. If you find one, please report it instead. We appreciate it.
- Interfering with the game. Attacking, overloading or tampering with the game or its servers, or with other players' connections.
Practising with a word list away from the game, studying words you missed after a round, and playing solo as much as you like are all welcome. That's how you get better.
Spectators
Anyone can watch any room, which makes Word Tracer more fun to follow. Spectators see the board a few seconds behind live play, and players only see chat between rounds. Please don't try to pass words to players through any other app or channel.
If someone breaks the rules
To keep the game fair, we may take any of these steps, depending on how serious the problem is:
- A warning.
- Removing or resetting an offensive player name.
- Muting someone in chat.
- Removing someone from a room or match.
- Removing scores, XP, leaderboard entries or a promotion earned unfairly.
- Blocking access to online play, temporarily or permanently.
We decide these case by case and try to be fair. If you think we got it wrong, email us and we'll take another look.
Reporting a problem
See someone cheating, being abusive or using an offensive name? Email contact-us@maxzam.com with the player's name, the tier and room (for example, Bronze 2), roughly when it happened, and what you saw. A screenshot helps. Reports are kept private.
If anyone makes you feel unsafe, leave the room, and tell us. You can always play solo practice in the meantime.
Changes to these rules
We may update these rules as the game grows. The latest version is always on this page.
